PantryPrix is a pantry tracker and recipe app. Find answers to common questions about it here.

PantryPrix helps you manage your pantry and generates recipes from the ingredients you already have. Track expiration dates, reduce food waste, and discover new meals with smart recipe suggestions.

  1. Create an account or sign in with Apple
  2. Add items to your pantry manually or by scanning barcodes
  3. Set your dietary preferences and allergies in your profile
  4. Click “Generate Recipes” to get personalized suggestions
  5. Save your favorite recipes for easy access later

PantryPrix is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad) through the App Store, on Android through Google Play, and as a web application accessible from any modern browser at pantryprix.com.

There are several ways to add items:

  • Manual entry: Tap the “+” button and enter item details
  • Barcode scanning: Use your camera to scan product barcodes
  • Photo recognition: Take a photo of items for automatic identification

When you add items, you can set expiration dates. PantryPrix will send you notifications before items expire (if enabled). Items are color-coded: green for fresh, yellow for expiring soon, and red for expired. You can also view all expiring items in a dedicated section.

Tap (or click) any item in your pantry to open its details. From there you can edit the quantity, expiration date, or other fields, and delete the item with the trash button.

On iOS you can also swipe left on a row in the pantry list for a quick delete shortcut.

PantryPrix analyzes your pantry contents, dietary preferences, and allergies to suggest recipes you can make with what you have. Click “Generate Recipes” to get personalized suggestions. You can specify preferences like cuisine type, cooking time, or difficulty level.

PantryPrix generates recipes based on culinary knowledge and your available ingredients. While we strive for accuracy, always use your judgment when cooking. Review cooking times and temperatures, and ensure food is properly prepared, especially for meat and seafood. If you find any issues with a recipe, please report it through the feedback feature.

Yes! Tap the heart icon on any recipe to save it to your favorites. You can access saved recipes anytime from the Recipes tab, even when offline. You can also rate recipes and add personal notes.

When you set dietary preferences (vegetarian, vegan, keto, etc.) and allergies in your profile, PantryPrix automatically filters and adjusts recipe suggestions. Recipes will exclude ingredients you're allergic to and match your dietary requirements.

Use the “Forgot password?” link on the sign-in screen to reset your password. You'll receive a verification code by email and can set a new password from there. If you signed in with Apple, your password is managed by Apple, not PantryPrix.

Account deletion permanently removes your profile, pantry items, saved recipes, photos, achievements, and subscription history. This action cannot be undone.

  • iOS: Profile → scroll to the bottom → tap “Delete Account” and confirm.
  • Web: Submit a request through the feedback form (subject: “Account Issue”) from the email address on your account. We will process the deletion within 30 days.

If you have an active paid subscription, cancel it first through Apple (for iOS purchases) or your subscription portal (for web purchases) so you aren't billed again.

On the Profile page, scroll to the “Notifications” section to enable or disable push alerts for expiring items and recipe suggestions. You can also manage system-level notification permissions in iOS Settings → PantryPrix.

PantryPrix has a free tier and three paid tiers:

  • Pantry (Free): 3 recipes every day, ad-supported, full pantry and shopping list features.
  • Sous Chef ($4.99/mo): 8 recipes every day, no ads, advanced dietary filters.
  • Head Chef ($9.99/mo): 15 recipes every day, recipe chat, recipe collections, meal planning.
  • Executive ($19.99/mo): 30 recipes every day, priority recipe generation, and family sharing for up to 5 people.

Barcode, photo, and receipt scanning are unlimited on every tier, including the free tier. Yearly plans are roughly two months free.

Each tier includes a daily recipe generation allowance that resets at midnight UTC. Free users get 3 recipes per day. Scanning your pantry is always unlimited.

Your allowance resets at midnight UTC. Upgrade your plan for a higher daily limit.

Share your code. Your friend gets a free week of Sous Chef. When they subscribe, you get a free month added to your plan.

To cancel your subscription:

  • iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → PantryPrix → Cancel Subscription.
  • Web: Profile → Subscription → “Manage Subscription”. This opens the secure billing portal where you can cancel.

You'll keep access to your current tier until the end of the billing period.

iOS purchases (App Store / in-app purchases): Refunds are handled directly by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. PantryPrix cannot issue refunds for App Store transactions.

Web purchases (Stripe): Refund requests are reviewed case by case. Submit a request through the feedback form (subject: “Account Issue”) from the email address on your account with the order or invoice details.

The free Pantry tier is supported by advertising so the core app stays free for everyone. Ads appear as a single banner in the app footer, are always clearly labeled, and never play sound, autoplay video, or interrupt cooking. To remove ads entirely, upgrade to any paid tier (Sous Chef and above).
